    In the central part, against a background of mountains, an image of a torch in the form of hands holding a bowl with a flame. On both sides of the torch, under the mountains, ruins are symbolically depicted as a consequence of the earthquake. Below the torch is the date '7.12.1988'. At the top is the inscription 'ARMENIA', divided by the flame into two parts 'ARM' and 'ENIA'. Around the circumference are the inscriptions 'ZONE OF EARTHQUAKE', 'MERCY', 'CREATION', separated by dots.
