    In the central part on the right are large numerals '50', below them a two-line inscription in English 'EURO / CENT' – meaning 'fifty euro cents'. To the right of the zero is the engraver's mark of Luc Luycx 'LL'. In the central part on the left are the outlines of the eurozone countries. From them, six vertical parallel lines extend upwards and downwards, ending in 12 stars.
  • Obverse
    In the central part is a portrait of Eleftherios Venizelos, facing left in half-profile. An arched inscription with his name in Greek 'ΕΛ. ΒΕΝΙΖΕΛΟΣ' is on his chest. Above the left shoulder is the mintmark of the Athens Mint (acanthus leaf). To the left of the portrait is a two-line inscription '50 / ΛΕΠΤΑ', meaning 'fifty euro cents' in Greek, below which is the year of issue '2002'. 12 stars of the European Union are evenly placed along the rim. Between the two bottom stars are the initials of the artist Georgios Stamatopoulos – 'ΓΣ'.
