    The center is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle with wings spread, both heads wearing crowns, with a larger third crown above and between the heads. In its right talon the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left an orb. On the eagle's tail — the letter 'L'. Mintmaster's mark of Johann Luvis LANG (Иоганн Лювис ЛАНГ — in Russian interpretation Ivan LANG). Around the eagle the text: МАНЕТА НОВАѦ ЦЕНА ПОЛТИНА ҂АѰИI (1718). The edge of the coin has a dotted border.

    The center of the obverse is occupied by the right-facing profile of Peter I, crowned with a laurel wreath. Around the portrait the text: ЦРЬ ПЕТРЪ АЛЕѯIЕВИЧЪ ВСЕѦ РОСИI САМОДЕРЖЕЦЪ. The rim is executed in the form of a twisted cord (denticles at an angle to the ground).
