Reverse
The center is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle with wings spread, both heads wearing crowns, with a larger third crown above and between the heads. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left, an orb. On the eagle's right talon is the letter 'L'. This is the mintmaster's mark of Johann Luvis LANG (Иоганн Лювис ЛАНГ — in Russian interpretation Ivan LANG). Around the eagle is the text: МОНЕТА НОВАЯ ЦЕНА ПОЛТИНА ҂АѰИI (1718). The coin's edge has a beaded border.
Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by a right-facing profile portrait of Peter I, crowned with a laurel wreath. Around the portrait is the text: ЦАРЬ ПЕТРЪ АЛЕКСИЕВИЧЪ ВСЕЯ РОССИИ САМОДЕРЖЕЦЪ (Tsar Peter Alexeevich, Autocrat of All Russia). The rim is executed in the form of a twisted cord (toothed pattern at an angle to the ground).
