The center features the coat of arms of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle with wings spread, both heads wearing crowns, with a larger third crown above and between them. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left, an orb. On the eagle's right talon is the letter 'L'. This is the mintmaster's mark of Johann Luvis LANG (Иоганн Лювис ЛАНГ — in Russian interpretation Ivan LANG). Around the eagle is the inscription: МАНЕТА НОВАѦ ЦЕНА ПОЛТИНА ҂АѰИI (1718). The coin's edge is bordered by a dotted rim.
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse features a right-facing profile portrait of Peter I, crowned with a laurel wreath. Around the portrait is the inscription: ЦРЬ ПЕТРЪ АЛЕѯIЕВИЧЪ ВСЕѦ РОСИI САМОДЕРЖЕЦЪ. The rim is executed in the form of a twisted rope (denticles at an angle to the field).
