    The center features the coat of arms of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle with wings spread, both heads wearing crowns, with a larger third crown above and between them. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left, an orb. On the eagle's tail is the letter 'L'. The mintmaster's mark of Johann Luvis LANG (Иоганн Лювис ЛАНГ — in Russian interpretation Ivan LANG). Around the eagle, the text reads: МАНЕТА НОВАѦ ЦЕНА ПОЛТИНА ҂АѰИI (1718). The coin's edge is bordered by a dotted rim.

    The center of the obverse features the right-facing profile of Peter I, crowned with a laurel wreath. In the truncation of the shoulder are the letters 'OK', the initials of the engraver Osip Kalashnikov. Around the portrait, the text reads: ЦРЬ ПЕТРЪ АЛЕѯIЕВИЧЪ ВСЕѦ РОСИI САМОДЕРЖЕЦЪ. The coin's rim consists of denticles.
