The central part features the State Emblem of Russia — a double-headed eagle with wings raised and spread. The eagle's heads are crowned with two small crowns, with a third, larger crown above them. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left, an orb. Under the right wing are the initials 'IL', under the left wing, the initial 'L'. These are the mintmaster's marks of Johann Luvis LANG (Иоганн Лювис ЛАНГ — in Russian interpretation, Ivan LANG). Around the eagle is the inscription: ВСЕѦ• РОСIИ• ПОВЕЛIТЕЛЬ•1708. The coin's edge is bordered by a twisted dotted rim.
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by the right-facing profile of Peter I, crowned with a laurel wreath. Around the portrait is the inscription: ЦРЬ• I• В• К• ПЕТРЪ• АЛЕSIЕВИЧЪ. The coin's border consists of denticles.
