    The center is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle with wings spread, both heads wearing crowns, with a larger third crown above and between the heads. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left, an orb. In the upper part, around the eagle, the text: MOSKOVSKI POLTINA. Below the eagle, divided by its tail, the minting year '17 — 12'. Along the edge of the coin — a twisted dotted border.

    The center of the obverse is occupied by the right-facing profile of Peter I, crowned with a laurel wreath. Around the portrait, the text: TSAR PETR ALEXEEVICH. The coin's edge consists of denticles.
