Reverse
Along the upper edge of the coin, from left to right, the inscription '500TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE UNIFIED RUSSIAN STATE'. In the center, the three first All-Russian coins: a Novgorodka kopeck, a denga, and a polushka, all depicting a bird. Below them, the numeral '16th CENTURY'. At the bottom, along the rim, the words 'FIRST ALL-RUSSIAN COINS'.
Obverse
In the upper part of the coin is the State Emblem of the USSR, encircled by a ribbon (15 turns), below it the letters 'USSR'. Further down, a horizontal line. Under the line on the left: the chemical symbol Ag and the fineness 900 of the coin's metal, below that the pure weight of the precious metal '31.1'. Under the line on the right: the mintmark 'LMD'. Slightly lower, the denomination numeral '3' and below it the word 'RUBLES'. Near the lower edge: the year of mintage '1989'.
