    Along the upper edge of the coin from left to right is the inscription '1000-LETIE DREVNERUSSKOI MONETNOI CHEKANKI' (1000th Anniversary of Old Russian Coinage). In the center are images of the obverse and reverse of Vladimir Svyatoslavich's srebrennik. Below it is the year of the Baptism of Rus by Prince Vladimir Svyatoslavich '988'. Further below, one under the other, are the words 'SREBRENNIK' and 'VLADIMIRA'.

    In the upper part of the coin is the State Emblem of the USSR, encircled by a ribbon (15 turns), below it the letters 'USSR'. Below, to the left and right, is a line. Under the line on the left are the chemical symbol Ag and the fineness 900 of the coin's metal, below them the pure weight of the precious metal '31.1'. Under the line on the right is the manufacturer's (mint) mark 'LMD'. Slightly lower is the coin's denomination, the numeral '3' and below it the word 'RUBLYA'. At the bottom near the rim is the year of minting '1988'.
