In the central part, within a circle of yellow metal, is the coat of arms of Rivne Oblast (Ukraine). Around the edge of the coin is an inscription in Ukrainian: «РIВНЕНСЬКА ОБЛАСТЬ. ЗАСНОВАНА У 1939 РОЦI», which translates to: 'Rivne Oblast, founded in 1939'.
Obverse
In the central part, within a circle of yellow metal, is a collage consisting of an Orthodox church, a fortress tower, an old church book, wheat ears, a flowering branch, and a stylized depiction of an atom. In the center of the collage is the year of mintage, 2014. In the upper part, along the curved edge of the coin, is the coat of arms of Ukraine, separating the Ukrainian inscription: «НАЦIОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ», which translates to: 'National Bank of Ukraine'. Below (separated from the upper inscription by a dot on the left and the Kyiv Mint mark on the right) is the inscription: «ПЯТЬ ГРИВЕНЬ» - 5 Hryvnias.
