    In the central part, within a circle of yellow metal, is the coat of arms of Mykolaiv Oblast (Ukraine). Along the edge of the coin, separated by a wavy line, is an inscription in Ukrainian: «МИКОЛАЇВСЬКА ОБЛАСТЬ. ЗАСНОВАНА У 1937 РОЦI», which translates to: «Mykolaiv Oblast, founded in 1937».

    In the central part, within a circle of yellow metal, is a collage depicting: agricultural crops: two sunflowers, two wheat ears, and a bunch of grapes; a dry cargo ship sailing on the sea; and ancient amphorae and a coin. Above them is the year of minting, 2012. In the upper part, along the curved edge of the coin, is the coat of arms of Ukraine, separating the inscription in Ukrainian: «НАЦIОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ», which translates to: «National Bank of Ukraine». Below (separated from the upper inscription by a dot on the left and the Kyiv Mint mark on the right) is the inscription: «ПЯТЬ ГРИВЕНЬ» - 5 Hryvnias.
