Below the numeral, in a semicircle framed by five-pointed stars, the inscription in Spanish: 'DE REAL' - 1/8 real. Along the upper edge of the coin from left to right, the inscription in Spanish: 'DEPARTAMENTO DE DURANGO', translated as 'Department of Durango'. Along the lower edge, separated by two five-pointed stars, the mint year 1847. The coin's edge features decorative denticles.
