In the central part is a frontal portrait of the poetess Lesya Ukrainka. Along the left edge of the coin in an arc is her name in Ukrainian: 'Lesya Ukrainka'; on the right, along the rim, are the years of her life 1871-1913.
Obverse
In the central part, within a circle of dots, is the Coat of Arms of Ukraine framed by two branches with leaves and berries. Above the coat of arms is the year of issue 1996. Below the coat of arms is a two-line semicircular inscription: '200 000 KARBOVANTSIV' - 200 thousand karbovanets. To the left, top, and right along the rim, separated on each side by a decorative vignette, is an inscription in Ukrainian: 'NATSIONALNYI BANK UKRAINY', which translates to: 'National Bank of Ukraine'.
