In the central part, within a circle of yellow metal, against a background of floral ornament, an image of a theater colonnade where the columns are replaced by the word: "UNESCO" in English. Around the edge of the coin is the inscription: "50 РОКIВ УКРАЇНИ В ЮНЕСКО" (50 Years of Ukraine in UNESCO) in Ukrainian and "50 YEARS OF UKRAINE IN UNESCO" in English. The inscriptions are separated by two dots.

In the central part, within a circle of yellow metal, the Coat of Arms of Ukraine is depicted surrounded by floral ornament, above it the year of mintage 2004. Around the edge of the coin are inscriptions (separated on the left by a dot, on the right by the mint mark of the Kyiv Mint) in Ukrainian: at the top the country name "УКРАЇНА" (Ukraine), at the bottom "5 гривень" - 5 Hryvnias.
