In the central part, a large numeral 2 on the left, with the English inscription 'EURO' to its right, translating to '2 Euro'. Below the letter 'O' is the engraver Luc Luycx's initials 'LL'. The inscription is placed over the outlines of a map of Europe. Six vertical parallel lines extend upwards and downwards from it, ending in 12 stars.
Obverse
Around the edge of the coin are 12 stars of the European Union. Along the edge of the inner disc: on the left, the Portuguese inscription 'AGRICULTURA FAMILIAR', meaning 'FAMILY FARMING'; on the right, the issuing country's name Portugal in Portuguese and the year of minting 'PORTUGAL 2014'. The central part depicts traditional agricultural tools: a shovel, rake, and hoe, as well as agricultural produce—a chicken surrounded by a pumpkin, potatoes, other vegetables, and flowers. Below them is the abbreviation 'INCM'—the mintmark of the Lisbon Mint—and the artist's signature, Helder Batista, 'H. BATISTA'.
