    In the central part, a large numeral 2 on the left, with the English inscription 'EURO' to its right, translating to '2 Euro'. Below the letter 'O' is the engraver's mark of Luc Luycx 'LL'. The inscription is placed over the outlines of a map of Europe. From these outlines, six vertical parallel lines extend upwards and downwards, each ending with one of the 12 stars.

    Along the rim on the outer ring, 12 stars of the European Union are evenly distributed. Along the edge of the inner disc, the top inscription in Latvian reads 'LATVIJAS PREZIDENTŪRA ES PADOMĒ', translated as 'LATVIA'S PRESIDENCY OF THE COUNCIL OF THE EU'. The bottom inscription is the website address of the presidency: 'EU2015.LV'. The disc features the logo of Latvia's Presidency of the Council of the European Union, depicting a stylized millstone.
