    In the central part, there are six standing armed Cossacks led by an ataman, with a kneeling captive to their left. Below the figures is the seal of the Kalmiusska Palanka, a military-administrative unit of the Zaporizhian Sich. Along the upper edge of the coin, an inscription in Ukrainian reads: "500 РОКIВ КОЗАЦЬКИМ ПОСЄЛЄНИЯМ" (500 Years of Cossack Settlements). Along the left, bottom, and right edge, separated by two crosses, is the name of the Kalmiusska Palanka in Ukrainian: "КАЛЬМIУСЬКА ПАЛАНКА".

    In the central part, there is an old depiction of a Cossack within a square frame. To the left of the frame along the edge is the Coat of Arms of Ukraine, to the right is the mint mark of the Kyiv Mint, and below is the year of issue, 2005. Along the left, top, and right edge is the inscription in Ukrainian: "НАЦIОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ" (National Bank of Ukraine). Below along the edge (separated from it by a cross) is the inscription: "ПЯТЬ ГРИВЕНЬ" (Five Hryvnias).
