Obverse To the left, top, and right is an inscription in Spanish: 'REPUBLICA DE LA NUEVA GRANADA', which translates to 'Republic of New Granada'. In the central part, surrounded by rays, is the cap of the goddess Liberty with the inscription: 'LIBERTAD' (Liberty) in Spanish. In the lower part, along the edge of the coin, is the date 1847.
