Along the upper edge, an inscription in Portuguese: "DECRETO N°1817 DE 3 DE SETEMBRO DE 1870" - "Decree No. 1817 of September 3, 1870". In the center - the denomination "100 RÉIS" in two lines, on a background of horizontal and vertical hatching. The rim is decorated with raised decorative denticles.
Obverse
In the center is the coat of arms of the Brazilian Empire from 1831-1889. On the left is a coffee branch, on the right a tobacco branch, which cross at the bottom and are tied with a ribbon. Along the rim are inscriptions in Portuguese: at the top "IMPERIO DO BRASIL" - "BRAZILIAN EMPIRE", at the bottom the year of issue: "1886". The rim is decorated with raised decorative denticles.
