    In the central part, a large numeral '2' on the left. On the right, a two-line inscription in English 'EURO / CENT', meaning 'two euro cent'. Below the inscription, a symbolic depiction of the globe with the outlines of Europe against six slanted parallel lines, with 12 stars at their ends. Near the rim on the right is the engraver's mark 'LL' for Luc Luycx.

    Along the rim are 12 five-pointed stars symbolizing the Eurozone countries. On the left, the issuing country's name in Italian 'CITTA' DEL VATICANO' – 'Vatican City'. On the right, the year of issue 2014 and the letter 'R' – the mintmark of the Rome Mint. In the central part, a left-facing portrait of Pope Francis I and inscriptions in Italian: 'ELF INC' – the personal mark of engraver Ettore Lorenzo Frapiccini and the signature of the artist Gabriela Titotto 'G. TITOTTO'.
