In the central part is the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Spain, surrounded by twelve half-opened floral buds. The edge of the coin features decorative elements in the form of dentils.
Obverse
In the central part is the monogram of King Ferdinand VII of Spain. Above it, a crown; to the left, the mint mark for Mexico City; to the right, the numeral '1/4' - 1/4 tlaco (1/8 real). Along the left and right edges is the text: 'FERDIN VII D G HISP REX', which translates from Latin as 'Ferdinand VII by the Grace of God King of Spain'. In the lower part, following the curve of the edge and separated by dots, is the year of minting: 1814. The edge of the coin features decorative elements in the form of dentils.
