In the central part, the inscription '500 RÉIS' in two lines in Portuguese. Along the left and right arcs of the coin are two branches that cross at the bottom and are tied with a bow. Along the upper arc is the country name 'BRAZIL' in Portuguese, below it is the year of minting: '1928'. Decorative raised denticles are placed along the rim.

In the upper part, along the arc of the coin's edge, are 21 stars. In the central part is a woman representing Liberty, bowing before a harvest. Decorative raised denticles are placed along the rim.
