In the central part, against the background of a flag depicting a sun rising over the sea, is the outline of Donetsk Oblast (Ukraine), with the number '75' inside the outline. Along the edge of the coin, separated by two dots, is an inscription in Ukrainian: "DONETSKA OBLAST. ZASNOVANA U 1932 ROTSI", which translates to: "Donetsk Oblast, founded in 1932".
Obverse
In the central part, a collage consisting of: a glowing miner's lamp, from which five rays emanate; a coal processing and oil refining plant and an elevator. Above the industrial facilities is the coat of arms of Ukraine. Below them is a two-line inscription: "2 HRYVNI" - 2 hryvnias. To the left, top, and right along the rim are the Kyiv Mint mark and an inscription in Ukrainian: "NATSIONALNYI BANK UKRAINY", which translates to: "National Bank of Ukraine". In the lower part, along the arc of the coin's edge, is the year of mintage 2007.
