Reverse
Along the upper and left edge of the coin are inscriptions in French: 'TRÉSORS DE PARIS', translating to 'TREASURES OF PARIS'; at the bottom '10 EURO' — 'ten euro'. The central part features a symbolic map of the Parisian area near the Theatre: city blocks are depicted as polygons, the River Seine as three lines. Near the right edge of the river is a horizontal inscription with the year of issue '2016'.
Obverse
Along the upper and left edge of the coin is the theatre's name in French 'OPERA GARNIER', translating to 'OPERA GARNIER'. The central part features, on the left, a symbolic depiction of a theatre curtain with the theatre building below it; on the right, the gilded sculpture of Poetry that adorns the theatre's roof. Next to the sculpture are the symbols 'RF' — the mintmark for France on European Union coins.
