    In the upper part, along the edge of the coin, is the British Imperial Crown, with the Latin inscription to the left and right: "GEORGIVS VI REX ET IND: IMP:" - "GEORGE VI, KING AND EMPEROR OF INDIA". The central part contains a hole, below which is the Kings Norton mint mark - "KN". Around the hole is the inscription for one penny: in English "ONE PENNY" to the left, top, and right, and in Arabic "وَاحِد بَنِّي" below. The coin's edge is decorated with raised denticles.
