Along the left arc of the coin are 12 five-pointed stars, symbolizing the 12 member states of the European Union; on the right is the letter 'LL' - the mark of the artist of the Royal Belgian Mint, Luc Luycx.
Obverse
In the central part, the right-facing profile of King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands. In the neck truncation, the year of mintage: 2014. Superimposed on the portrait is a two-line vertical inscription in Dutch: 'WILLEM-ALEXANDER KONING DER NEDERLANDEN' (Willem-Alexander King of the Netherlands), framed by the mintmarks of the Utrecht Mint: a sailing ship (the mark of mintmaster Maarten Brouwer) and a caduceus (staff of Mercury). Around the edge of the coin are 12 five-pointed stars, symbolizing the 12 member states of the European Union.
