Reverse In the central part — a female portrait in a national headdress, facing left. To the right is a large number 25, below along the rim the inscription "CENTAVOS", translated as "25 centavos".
Obverse Around the edge of the coin — decorative raised dots. Along the arc of the coin's edge on the left, top, and right is the country name Republic of Guatemala in Spanish "REPUBLICA GUATEMALA". Below the year of minting "1979", highlighted on both sides by relief elements in the form of dots. In the central part is the coat of arms of Guatemala. On two crossed Remington rifles with bayonets and two swords rests a scroll with the text "LIBERTAD 15 DE SEPTIEMBRE DE 1821" — September 15, 1821, the date of the proclamation of Central America's independence from Spain. On the scroll sits a quetzal bird, symbolizing freedom. Two olive branches frame the composition on three sides.
