To the right is the engraver's mark of George James Berry: an inverted letter 'J' and 'B'. Below the ship, the name in English 'ENDEAVOUR' — literally translated as 'effort'.

    Along the upper edge of the coin on the left is the inscription 'ELIZABETH II'. Translated as 'Elizabeth the Second'. To the right is the issuing country 'NEW ZEALAND'. Below is the year of issue '1986'. In the central part is a right-facing profile of the Queen wearing a crown.
