Along the upper edge arc are two years: 1980 — the year the independent trade union 'Solidarity' was founded, and 2005 — the year of its 25th anniversary. The inscriptions are separated by a raised dot. In the central part, on three sheets of paper, are inscriptions in Polish: 'NSZZ' — an abbreviation for 'Niezależny Samorządny Związek Zawodowy', and 'Solidarność' — 'Solidarity', together translating as 'Independent Self-Governing Trade Union 'Solidarity''. A hand with extended index and middle fingers forms a victory sign.
  • Obverse
Along the edge arc in the upper part is the name of the Republic of Poland in Polish: 'RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA'. Below is the inscription 'zt 2 zt' — denoting '2 zlotych', with five raised dots on each side. In the central part is the image of the national coat of arms: a crowned eagle with wings spread and raised, its head turned left. The eagle's legs separate the inscription with the year of issue — '2005' — into two parts.
