Reverse
The central part features the coat of arms of Colombia. In the upper part, following the curve of the coin's edge, is text in Spanish: 'CINCO CENTAVOS' - five centavos. Along the curve of the left edge, the weight is indicated: 'G.1,250'; on the right, the silver fineness is indicated: 'LEI 0,666'. Along the curve of the lower edge is an inscription in Spanish: 'BOGOTA' - the Bogota mint. The coin's edge is decorated with dot-like elements.
Obverse
The central part depicts the goddess Liberty facing left, wearing a headband with the Spanish inscription 'LIBERTAD' (Liberty). Below her is the year of issue - 1874. Along the rim: on the left, top, and right is the Spanish inscription: 'ESTADOS UNIDOS DE COLOMBIA', which translates to 'United States of Colombia'; at the bottom are nine five-pointed stars. The coin's edge is decorated with dot-like elements.
