Along the upper edge arc is an inscription in Arabic: "بنك الجزائر", which translates to "BANK OF ALGERIA". Along the lower edge arc is the inscription for dinar in Arabic: "دينارا".

    The central part features a left-facing profile depiction of a lion. To its left, along the edge, is text in Arabic: "ه 1993 لد 1414", which translates to: "1414 H 1993 AD". The coin's edge features a decorative raised pattern in the form of an ornament.
