In the central part is a left-facing portrait of Bolivia's first president, Simón Bolívar, in a laurel wreath. The person's name "Bolivar" is in the truncation. Along the arc of the left and right edges of the coin is an inscription in Spanish: «LIBRE POR LA CONSTITUCION∙» (Free by the Constitution). The coin's edge features decorative raised denticles.
Obverse
In the center is a breadfruit tree; at its trunk, two alpacas are depicted lying down facing each other. Above the crown, nine five-pointed stars are arranged in a semicircle. Inscriptions along the edge: on the left, top, and right, the country's name in Spanish «REPUBLICA BOLIVIANA» (Bolivian Republic); at the bottom, the Latin letters «PAZ», the mint year «1854», the inscription «2S» (2 sueldos), the engraver's mark «F», with dots between the inscriptions. Denticle-like elements run along the rim.
