In the central part, surrounded by an oak wreath tied with ribbons, an inscription in three lines in Spanish: "DOS REALES 1880" - two reales and the mintage year 1880. Flower sprigs are placed on either side of the wreath. In the upper part, along the rim's arc, text in Spanish: "POPAYAN" - the Popayán mint. Along the arc of the lower rim, an inscription indicating the silver content: "LEI 0,835". The edge is decorated with a denticulated pattern.
Obverse
To the right, top, and left is an inscription in Spanish: "ESTADOS UNIDOS DE COLOMBIA", which translates to "United States of Colombia". In the central part is the coat of arms of Colombia framed by a laurel wreath. In the lower part, along the rim's arc, are nine five-pointed stars. The edge is decorated with a denticulated pattern.
