In the central part of the reverse is a relief image of three birds: one perched on a rock below, two in flight. Inscriptions in English: along the top rim 'WWF CONSERVING NATURE', below horizontally '50 PENCE' and the year of issue '1998'.
Obverse
In the central part is the right-facing profile of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain wearing a crown. In the truncation are the initials of the British sculptor Raphael David Maklouf - 'RDM'. Inscriptions in English along the rim: on the left the monarch's name 'ELIZABETH II', on the right the name of the British Overseas Territory 'ASCENSION ISLAND'.
