In the central part are two cornucopias crossed at the top. Between them is an inscription in Spanish: '5 CENT' - five centavos. Along the arc of the left edge of the coin, the weight is indicated: 'GRAM.1,230'; on the right, the silver fineness is indicated: 'LEI 0,835'. Along the arc of the lower edge is an inscription in Spanish: 'MEDELLIN' - the mint in the city of Medellín. All inscriptions are separated by dots. The coin's edge features decorative elements in the form of dentils.
Obverse
In the central part is a depiction of the goddess Liberty facing left, wearing a headband with the Spanish inscription 'Liberty' - 'LIBERTAD'. Below her is the year of minting - 1874. To the left, top, and right is an inscription in Spanish: 'ESTADOS UNIDOS DE COLOMBIA', which translates to 'United States of Colombia'. In the lower part, along the arc of the coin's edge, are nine five-pointed stars. The coin's edge features decorative elements in the form of dentils.
