In the central part is the right-facing profile of Pedro II. Below the neck truncation are the letters denoting the artist's initials: "C.L." - Cristian Lüster. To the left and right along the edge is text in Latin: "PETRUS II D.G.C.IMP. ET PERP.BRAS.DEF" - "PEDRO II BY THE GRACE OF GOD CONSTITUTIONAL EMPEROR AND PERPETUAL DEFENDER OF BRAZIL", below - the year of minting: "1869". Decorative raised denticles are placed along the rim.
