    Along the edge of the coin is the inscription "LUNOKHOD 1": at the top in the state language, at the bottom in English — "LUNOKHOD-1". The inscriptions on the left and right are separated by stars. In the central part of the reverse is a relief image of Lunokhod-1 on the lunar surface against a starry sky and the planet Earth. Below it is an arched inscription "1970-2010", where 1970 is the year of the rover's launch to the Moon, and 2010 is the 40th anniversary of the commemorative event and the year of mintage.

    Along the edge of the coin is the name of the state, the Republic of Kazakhstan: at the top in the state language — "KAZAKSTAN RESPUBLIKASY", at the bottom — in English "REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN". The inscriptions are separated by relief elements in the form of dots. In the central disc is a symbolic depiction of a human figure with a raised arm, "reaching" for the stars. Stars "fly" along orbits depicted as closed, inclined concentric circles. To the right of the human figure is a two-line inscription "500 / TENGE", below which, in two lines, is the designation of the metal from which the coin is made, its purity and weight: "Ag 925 14.6 gr. / Ta 26.8 gr." (Ag - silver, Ta - tantalum). At the bottom is the mintmark of the Kazakhstan Mint.
