Reverse

The reverse features an image of Lunokhod-1, the first lunar rover, in the process of carrying out its program to study the lunar surface, against a backdrop of a starry sky and the planet Earth. The numbers '1970-2010' denote the year of the rover's landing on the Moon and the year of the coin's minting. Around the circumference is the inscription 'LUNOKHOD-1' in the state language and 'LUNOKHOD-1' in English.

Obverse

The obverse of the coin depicts a composition symbolizing the unity of man and the universe, the connection between past and present. On the right side of the coin, the denomination '500 Tenge' is indicated; below it, the inscription 'Ag 925 14.6 gr. Ta 26.8 gr.' denotes that the coin is made of 925 silver weighing 14.6g and tantalum weighing 26.8g. At the very bottom is the trademark of the Kazakhstan Mint. Around the circumference is the inscription ҚАЗАҚСТАН РЕСПУБЛИКАСЫ in the state language and 'REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN' in English.
