In the central part, on the right, large numerals '50', below them a two-line inscription in English 'EURO / CENT'. To the right of the zero is the engraver's mark of Luc Luycx 'LL'. In the central part on the left are the outlines of the eurozone countries. From them, six vertical parallel lines extend upwards and downwards, ending in 12 stars.
Obverse
In the central part, a portrait of Eleftherios Venizelos, facing left in half-profile. On his chest, an arched inscription with his name in Greek 'ΕΛ. ΒΕΝΙΖΕΛΟΣ'. Above the left shoulder is the mintmark of the Athens Mint (acanthus leaf). To the left of the portrait, a two-line inscription '50 / ΛΕΠΤΑ', meaning 'fifty euro cents', below the year of issue '2009'. Along the rim are evenly spaced 12 stars of the European Union. Between the two lower stars are the initials of the artist Georgios Stamatopoulos — 'ΓΣ'.
