In the central part, a large numeral 2 on the left. On the right, at the top, a two-line inscription in English 'EURO / CENT', meaning 'two euro cent'. Below the inscription, a symbolic depiction of the globe with the outlines of Europe against a background of six slanted parallel lines, with 12 stars at their ends. Near the rim on the right is the engraver's mark of Luc Luycx, 'LL'.
Obverse
In the central part, an image of a sailing ship above waves. To the right of the sails, the year of minting '2008'. Below the wave on the left are the initials of the artist Georgios Stamatopoulos — 'ΓΣ'. At the bottom, an inscription in Greek '2 ΛΕΠΤΑ', meaning 'two euro cent'. To the left of the inscription is the mintmark of the Athens Mint (acanthus leaf). Along the rim, 12 stars of the European Union are evenly distributed.
