In the central part, within a circle formed by dots against a background of palm branches, are three portraits in oval frames with the names of the depicted kings in English: at the top 'GEORGE V', at the bottom-left 'EDWARD VIII', at the bottom-right 'GEORGE VI'. Above the image is the inscription 'YEAR OF THE THREE KINGS', below it the year '1936'. Along the rim are inscriptions in English: at the top 'QUEEN ELIZABETH THE QUEEN MOTHER', flanked on both sides by a cross, at the bottom the inscription '2 DALASIS'.
Obverse
In the upper part, along the arc of the coin's edge, is the country's name in English 'REPUBLIC OF THE GAMBIA'. In the central part is depicted the state coat of arms: two lions holding a heraldic shield featuring crossed axe and hoe; above the shield is a helmet adorned with a palm branch; at the base of the arms is the motto in English - 'Progress — Peace — Prosperity'. Below is the year of issue '1997'.
