    The central part features a portrait of King Władysław I the Elbow-high wearing a crown. The ruler's name and the years of his reign are inscribed in a semicircle at the top: 'WŁADYSŁAW I ŁOKIETEK – 1320-1333'. On the left is the artist's mark of Stanisława Wątróbska-Frindt.

    The central part features the Polish state eagle, dividing the mint year '1986' into two parts. Under the eagle's right claw is the mint mark of the Polish Mint. To the right, top, and left along the rim is the name of the state in Polish: 'POLSKA RZECZPOSPOLITA LUDOWA' (Polish People's Republic). At the bottom is the inscription 500 zlotych: 'ZŁ500ZŁ'.
