In the central part, surrounded by a wreath of flowers and oak leaves, an inscription in three lines in Spanish: '2 PESOS 1863' - 2 pesos and the mintage year 1863. Flower sprigs are placed on either side of the wreath. In the upper part, along the edge of the coin, text in Spanish: 'M. PESO G.3,225' - indicating the weight. Along the lower edge, an inscription indicating the fineness: 'LEI 0,900'. The rim is decorated with a denticulated pattern.
Obverse
To the right, top, and left is an inscription in Spanish: 'ESTADOS UNIDOS DE COLOMBIA', which translates to 'United States of Colombia'. In the central part, a profile portrait of the goddess Liberty, her head adorned with a ribbon bearing the Spanish inscription: 'LIBERTAG', meaning 'Liberty'. In the lower part, along the edge of the coin, are nine six-pointed stars. The rim is decorated with a denticulated pattern.
