    In the central part, an antelope head adorned with feathers is depicted frontally, with fish on both sides. Inscriptions in French: along the rim 'TERRITOIRE FRANCAIS DES AFARS ET DES ISSAS' (French Territory of the Afars and the Issas), to the right of the image '2' and to the left 'Fr.' (two francs). A pattern along the lower edge arc.
  • Obverse
    Against a background of ships, the left-facing profile of Marianne in a winged Phrygian cap is depicted. Below the ships, the mark of the chief engraver Lucien Georges Bazor: on the left 'L.Bazor', on the right 'G.B.'. On both sides of the portrait along the rim, the country name 'Republic of France' in French 'REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE'. Below, the mint year '1968', flanked on the left by a cornucopia (the mint mark of the Paris Mint) and on the right by an owl (the privy mark of the Mint Director Raymond Joly).
