    Along the left edge of the coin, an inscription in French reads 'COTE FRANCAISE DES SOMALIS' — French Somaliland. At the bottom, the inscription is closed by a semi-circular border of alternating round and oblong beads. In the central part, a large number 10, below it the inscription 'FRANCS' — 'ten francs'. Below is an image of a dhow sailboat against the background of a modern liner and a floating crane.

    Along the edge of the coin, on the left, an inscription in French reads 'REPUBLIQUE', on the right 'FRANÇAISE', which translates as 'French Republic'. In the central part, a left-facing profile of Marianne against a background of ships. Below the ships, the designer's signature 'LBAZOR' and 'GB' separated by the profile. At the bottom, the year of minting '1965'.
