    In the central part, an inscription in three lines: 'MACUTAS 4' - 4 macutas, surrounded by three four-petaled flowers of two types (two and one in number) and a laurel wreath. To the right, bottom, and left, an inscription in Portuguese: 'AFRICA.PORTUGUEZA', translated as 'Portuguese Africa'. At the top along the rim, the mint year 1763, separated from the inscription by two four-petaled flowers with dots on the sides. The edge of the coin features decorative raised denticles.

    In the central part, the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Portugal. To the right, bottom, and left along the edge, text in Latin: 'IOSEPHUS.I.D.G.REX.P.ET.D.GUINAE', the title of King of Portugal Joseph I the Reformer. The edge of the coin features decorative raised denticles.
