Reverse
In the central part of the reverse is a relief depiction of the coat of arms of Colombia. Along the left edge of the coin is an inscription indicating the weight: 'G.3,223'. At the top in Spanish: 'DOS PESOS' - two pesos. On the right, the fineness indication: 'LEI 0,900'. At the bottom, 'MEDELLIN' - indicating the Medellín mint. The rim is decorated with a decorative element of dots.
Obverse
To the right, top, and left is an inscription in Spanish: 'ESTADOS UNIDOS DE COLOMBIA', which translates to 'United States of Colombia'. In the central part is a left-facing profile portrait of the goddess Liberty, her head adorned with a ribbon bearing the Spanish inscription: 'LIBERTAG', meaning 'Liberty'. Below the head is the date of issue, 1872. In the lower part, along the edge of the coin, are nine five-pointed stars. The rim is decorated with a decorative element of dots.
