    In the central part, the head of a beisa oryx, adorned with twenty feathers. Below it, on the right and left, are fish in mollusk shells. To the left of the head is the numeral 2, to the right the inscription 'FR.S' - francs. Along the upper edge arc is the country name in French: 'CÔTE FRANCAISE DES SOMALIS' - French Somaliland. Along the lower edge arc is a relief ornament.

    In the central part, the left-facing profile of Marianne (Liberty) wearing a winged Phrygian cap, against a background of ships in a harbor. Below it is the designer's mark 'L.BAZOR' - Lucien Georges Bazor. From left to right along the edge is text in French: 'REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE', 'UNION FRANÇAISE' - French Republic, French Union. In the lower part, along the edge arc of the coin, is the issue date: 1949 and a cornucopia - the mint mark of the Paris Mint.
