Around the monument, along the rim, the text reads: BORODINO 26 AUG. 1812 G. OPENED 26 AUG. 1839 G. The edge is decorated with denticles.

    The center of the obverse is occupied by the right-facing profile of Alexander I. In the truncation of the neck are the medallist's initials 'H. GUBE F.' — A. I. Gube. Above the emperor's head is an 'all-seeing eye' in rays. Below the portrait is a sword entwined with a laurel branch. To the left of the portrait, along the rim, the text reads: ALEXANDER THE FIRST; to the right — 'B. M. EMPEROR OF ALL RUSSIA'. The edge is decorated with denticles.
